Plans for major extension to Loreto Secondary School lodged

Plans for a major extension to Loreto St Michael's Secondary School in Navan have been lodged with Meath County Council.

The school's board of management is seeking permission for a two separate extensions to the east and west of the existing school building totalling 2,390sqm. Both extensions will be linked to the existing building and will provide for additional classrooms, specialist rooms and a Special Education Needs (SEN) Unit.

The proposal includes a new three-storey building extension at the west side of the existing school building, consisting of a new SEN Unit, two general classrooms and five specialist classrooms, as well as two SET Rooms and a library.

Also forming part of the plans is the construction of a single-storey building extension at the east side of the existing school building to provide three specialist classrooms.

A new car parking layout is proposed comprising 70 car spaces of which 40 spaces are relocated and 30 spaces are newly proposed and there will be one SEN dedicated set down vehicular area and one car set down area. A total of 76 sheltered bicycle spaces are also proposed.

Some 50 PV panels will be installed on the east extension roof and any excess electricity generaed will go back into the national grid.
