Soontobe husband gets a result

Captain Cullen is becoming a bit of a celebrity horse around the Teltown area outside Navan and the six-year-old, owned by Lisa Sheridan and trained by her soon-to-be-husband Joseph Murray, won another contest at The Curragh yesterday on the last day of action for 2015 at the Kildare track.

The trainer only got his licence this year and had his first winner at the Kildare track last August when Captain Cullen won over seven furlongs.

Captain Cullen was second at The Curragh two weeks ago in a higher class race and despite carrying 9-8 yesterday (10-1 with with jockey Ian Queally claiming seven) won convincingly by one and a half lengths.

Murray will soon be turning his attention to the forthcoming wedding on Saturday 14th November.

'He's won over five, six and seven furlongs now and that's his first win over five,' remarked the trainer in an interview with irishracing.com.

'He has won twice here this year so it's brilliant and it was a bonus to get such good ground in October,' he added.

Ger Lyons and Colin Keane were on the mark with Van Schaick in a 50-80 handicap while also, arising out of that race, trainer Tony Martin was fined €150 for having his runner Jeremy's Jet late into the parade ring.
