Pairc Tailteann on track for timely completion

On Friday Pairc Tailteann CLG Chairperson Noel Dempsey provided an update on the redevelopment of the stand.

Meath GAA have announced that the redevelopment of the stand at Páirc Tailteann remains on track for completion in Q2 2027. The project will transform the venue and deliver an enhanced supporter experience as well as adhering to modern safety, accessibility and community use standards.

Originally constructed in 1953, the old south stand is being replaced by a 5,000-seat facility, which is currently 30% complete. With the beginning of the precast concrete stand now in place, the new stand is already making its mark on the local skyline.

In addition to the new stand, the development consists of a three-storey building to the rear which will house new dressings rooms, a medical centre, officials room and two shop units on the ground floor. The second floor will accommodate an Ard Comhairle area, meeting spaces and a sensory room, while the top floor will be reserved for media, event control team and backroom officials. The development will feature state-of-the-art accessibility infrastructure designed to ensure a more inclusive and accessible experience including improved seating, toilets, additional parking and enhanced general stadium access.

The Páirc Tailteann development fits in well with a proposed regeneration of the area which is currently being considered as part of a Masterplan by Meath County Council. The location of the stadium adjacent to the proposed rail station in Navan central makes it a key site in the Masterplan area.

An integral part of the new development will be the restoration of the floodlights for the first time since 2015 which will see the return to the very popular Saturday night league games which proved to be a great economic boost to the town. This will also facilitate concerts in the future.

Páirc Tailteann CLG Chairperson Noel Dempsey spoke about how the project is going to be transformative for the local area and that it remains on track for completion by mid 2027.

“Today is another key milestone in the Páirc Tailteann project which is going to be transformative for the local area. We look forward to seeing a return to evening matches, hosting concerts and playing our part in the wider rejuvenation of the local area.

Sisk confirms that the project remains on schedule for completion in Q2 next year. Once complete, the new stadium will be available to host night games and provide players and supporters with first-class facilities to complement our top-quality pitch.”
