Martin bidding for big race win at newmarket

Meath trainer Tony Martin will have three runners - Quick Jack, Heartbreak City and Cassells Rock - in the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket today, a race that actually starts in one county and finishes in another at the big English track.

Martin won the race with Leg Spinner in 2007 and saw Quick Jack, owned by Kells man John Breslin, finish third last year in the marathon event.

Quick Jack was third in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham and second in the Chester Cup before winning the Galway Hurdle this year at Ballybrit.

Heartbreak City won over two miles at York in August while Cassells Rock is the outsider of Martin's trio.

Another Meath trainer, Gordon Elliott, will be represented by Bayan whioch won the Ladbroke Hurdle ovr two miles at Ascot last December.

Some 34 runners will go to post for the two-mile, two-furlong event that has a first prize of £155,625 and is off at 3.50pm.
