Its a heartbreak for tony martin

Trainer Tony Martin landed a big pot at York today when French import Heartbreak City won a two-mile £50,000 handicap with top jockey Franny Norton on board.

This was a first racecourse victory for the five-year-old that finished third on the flat at Galway last month and also third in a Killarney handicap hurdle.

The lightly-weighted Heartbreak City (8-4) won well with a favourable late run and had more than two lengths to spare at the post.

Following the win, Heartbreak City was cut from 33-1 to 16-1 for the Cesarewitch by race sponsors Betfred.

'Hopefully he will have learned a little bit today, the Cesarewitch will be perfect for him. The trip, track and ground will be perfect,' commented the jockey.

Tomorrow Fran Berry will be on board Martin's Dark Crusader in the £60,000 Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes.

Heartbreak City may run again on Friday while Galway Hurdle winner Quick Jack heads the team for the Ebor at York on Saturday.
