Flemenstar for Navan return

Andrew Lynch is expected to be on board Flemenstar which is set to kick-start his national hunt campaign in the Grade 2 Boylesports.com Fortria Chase at Navan on Sunday.

The eight-year-old was a multiple Grade 1 winner for Peter Casey and will have his first outing on Sunday for his new trainer Tony Martin.

“I got him six weeks ago. The plan is that he’ll start off in the Fortria at Navan. He has done plenty and hopefully, all going well he’ll run on Sunday,” commented the trainer.

“I’d say he is a versatile horse. I don’t really know if he needs soft ground.  He is just a good horse and like everyone else, I saw him racing over the last couple of years and he seems to have won on all types of ground so I don’t think ground really matters to him.”

'He has done everything well, he has schooled well and galloped well. You don’t learn an awful lot about them in six weeks, but I am looking forward to getting him started on Sunday.

'I have no plans after Navan.  We’ll take it one day at a time. We’ll get Sunday out of the way first and make a plan after that,” he added.

Liam Glynn, PR Executive at Boylesports said
“The Fortria Chase has been won by champions such as Moscow Flyer and Big Zeb in the past and Boylepsorts are delighted to be sponsors of the prestigious race.”

He added, “All eyes will be on Flemenstar as he makes his seasonal reappearance in what is set to be a top class days racing that also features the Boylesports.com Grade 3 For Auction Novice Hurdle and The Grade 2 Boylesports.com Lismullen Hurdle.”

Darren Lawlor, General Manager said: “We are all extremely excited in anticipation to a fascinating renewal of the Boylesports.com Fortria chase. A tremendous support card with two further graded races adds to what promises to be one of those 'must be there' race days.”
