Man (50s) killed after single vehicle collision in Athboy
A man aged in his 50s has died after the vehicle he was driving was in collision with a premises in Athboy.
Gardaí are investigating the single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Connaught Street, Athboy in the early hours of this morning Sunday 20th September 2026, at approximately 2am
The collision involved a car which struck a premises.
The male driver and sole occupant of the car, aged in his 50s was fatally injured. His body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
Road users who were in the area of Connaught Street, Athboy, in the early hours of this morning Sunday 20th September 2026 between 1:45am and 2:15am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that claimed the life of a young man in Co Limerick and two other young males injured.
The incident occurred on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, Co. Limerick in the early hours of this morning Sunday 20th September 2026, at approximately 2:40am.
The collision involved a car which struck a tree.
The male driver, aged in his 20s was fatally injured. His body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The two male passengers, (aged in their 20s and an adult teenager) were removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick. The passenger aged in his 20s remains in a critical condition. The second passenger received non-life threatening injuries.
