Martin has favourite for Galway Hurdle

The Tony Martin-trained Ted Veale, a recent Bellewstown winner two weeks ago on his re-appearance, has been installed as the favourite for the Galway Hurdle on Thursday 1st August.
 
Boylesports make the Cheltenham County Hurdle winner the 6/1 favourite for the big race on the fourth day of the popular seven-day Galway Festival.
 
Champion trainer Willie Mullins holds 13 entries with Pique Sous (7/1) and Make Your Mark (10/1) likely to be his best chance whilst John Ferguson’s English entry Sea Lord is available at 12/1 with Boylesports.
 
Longwood-based Gordon Elliott is likely to be represented by Fred Winter winner, Flaxen Flare which is available at 12/1.
 
Elliott may also run Shadow Catcher (33/1) and Cause Of Causes (20/1) which finished second in last year’s race.
 
This weekend, 11 runners remain in Saturday’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Boylesports currently making Aidan O’Brien’s St Nicholas Abbey the 2/1 favourite for the race.
 
German raider Novelist (11/2) will be partnered by Bohermeen man Johnny Murtagh if William Buick is required to ride for John Gosden at York.
