Hotelier and Irish Food Champion Olivia Duff of the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells was in the winners’ enclosure at Bellewstown on Sunday evening when she won the Ward Union Hunt Charity Race over a mile and four furlongs in fine style to claim the Liz Jenkinson Memorial Cup.

The third running of the popular charity race in aid of the National Rehabilitation Hospital provided the mother of two who has a five-month old baby with a great success on board the Bank Man in a field of 14 runners.

“As part of my preparations for the charity race I trained for the past two months with Peter Mooney of Grangeclare Paddocks who kindly offered his horse for the event,” she told the Meath Chronicle.

The race is organised annually as a fundraiser for the National Rehabilitation Hospital in memory of former Mercy Convent, Navan PE Teacher, the late Liz Jenkinson, who was diagnosed with cancer and was a patient of the National Rehabilitation Hospital.
