Volleyball Ireland appoints Scott Walker as Interim CEO

Olympian has over 25 years of experience in sports management

Volleyball Ireland has appointed Scott Walker as interim chief executive officer, bringing extensive experience in sports leadership, strategic development and organisational transformation to the role, it says.

Walker will assist Volleyball Ireland at an exciting time for the sport, with 15 per cent year on year participation growth and national teams bringing home medals in European SCA events. His expertise will be invaluable in helping to prepare the organisation for a sustainable future, Volleyball Ireland says in a statement.

A former two-time Olympian, Walker brings over 25 years of experience in sports management, including 17 years with the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), where he held senior leadership positions in strategy, technology and sports development. He previously worked with UK Sport, supporting Olympic and Paralympic high-performance programmes.

Volleyball Ireland President Clodagh Nic Canna said: "We are delighted to welcome Scott to Volleyball Ireland. Volleyball has made tremendous progress in recent years here in Ireland, both in growing participation and strengthening our national teams. Scott's wealth of experience, strategic insight and proven leadership will be invaluable as we shape our organisation for continued success into the future. "

Walker added: "I'm excited to join Volleyball Ireland at such a positive time for the sport. The growth in participation and the progress of Ireland's national teams demonstrate the enormous potential that exists. I look forward to working with the Board, staff, clubs, volunteers and wider volleyball community to build on these achievements and help create a strong, sustainable future for the sport."
