Expanded 105X Services to Improve Public Transport Connections Between Ratoath and Dublin

The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with Bus Éireann, have announced an extended 105X Dublin to Fairyhouse Road via Ratoath service.

From the 1st of November 2026, commuters on Route 105X will benefit from improved connectivity between Ratoath and M3 Parkway Park & Ride.

The extended service being introduced include a 06:45 departure from Ratoath to M3 Parkway Park and Ride and a 19:15 departure from M3 Parkway Park and Ride to Ratoath.

To aim to improve journey times and provide a more rapid, reliable service, Route 105X will now operate via the M3 motorway. As a result, the following stops will no longer be served by the 105X: Bullstown, Newtown Commons, Coolquay, Ward Cross, Broughan, Kilshane, Kildonan and Kilshane Cross. The 103 will continue to serve these stops.

Ratoath residents have had to endure significant stress in recent times over their public transport, as they face problems such as cancelled services, “ghost buses”, overcrowding, buses arriving full, and lack of reliability.

Cllr Helen Meyer and Cllr Nick Killian have also raised recently issues regarding the 103 bus, with the councillors describing the Ratoath service as "frustrating" and "unreliable" respectively.

However, the changes to the 105X service will aim to improve passengers' experiences.

Speaking on the additional services on route 105X; John Nott, Head of Public Transport Services Planning at the National Transport Authority, said:

"We are pleased to roll out these amendments to Route 105X. The revised timetable will provide commuters in Ratoath and the surrounding areas with improved public transport connections, including greater access to rail services via M3 Parkway Park & Ride. These changes will offer more travel options and support growing demand for sustainable transport in the area."
