The Kilmainham's expected to keep marching on

You can’t win it in the group stages, but you can lose it – just ask pre-Junior B FC favourites Moynalty.

Although they relinquished their 100% record against Kilmainham last time out, Kilmainhamwood look well-placed to get another crack at their shortened-namesake. Having laboured to victory over Drumconrath in the opening round, ‘the Wood’ produced a statement win by hammering Moynalty to seal their passage.

They will face a Cortown side who did not have things easy in Group A despite recording consecutive wins over Eastern Gaels, Boardsmill and Clonard - the latter two by a solitary point. Davy Wright’s side know they will need to improve significantly but have scope to with meetings between the two generally close. It will be tight, but the firepower of Rian Stafford might just sway this Kilmainhamwood's way. Verdict: Kilmainhamwood.

Despite the setbacks of drawing against Clonard and losing to Cortown, Boardsmill are still standing. While they needed a favour from Cortown, James McNally and John Rafferty would argue their side were due a slice of luck and they will enjoy the tag of underdogs against Kilmainham.

Michael Hoey has been a revelation for Kilmainham with the return of Dylan Morgan also a key component in their recent revival, not to mention the inspiration of their favourite son and player/manager Mickey Newman. Verdict: Kilmainham.
