Man due in court over fatal Enfield shooting

A man in his 50s is due to appear in court charged in connection with the murder of Conor O'Brien in Enfield last week.

The body of the 19-year-old from Gorey in Co Wexford, was found in the driveway of a house last Friday morning.

He is due to appear before Carlow District Court this morning at 12pm.

Gardaí had responded to reports of an incident at 10pm at a premises in Carlow Town. A man found to be in possession of hand gun was arrested by Gardaí at the scene. He was taken to Carlow Garda Station where he was detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

The firearm was removed for ballistic examination.

Gardaí launched a murder enquiry after the discovery of a body of Conor O'Brien (19) with a fatal gunshot injury, outside a residence in Enfield, County Meath on Friday morning, 27th August, 2021.

No firearm was recovered at the scene.
