Logistics company Primeline Group has announced 400 jobs across a range of disciplines, with the opening of a €50 million distribution hub in Ashbourne

The supply chain company, which is Ireland’s largest independent provider of logistics services, employs around 1,100 people across its operations in the Republic which are largely based in Ashbourne making it a leading employer in the county.

The newly created positions will be spread across a range of disciplines, the company has reported. Roles are set to be available across the company’s IT, operations and sales divisions.

The logistic group’s fleet of vehicles makes more than 25,000 deliveries to around 7,500 locations across Ireland every week. This follows the development of a logistics network by the group which covers every town in Ireland.

The new development is the largest Irish-owned net zero energy building compliant distribution centre at 360,000sq ft in size and is located at Primeline Group’s headquarters at Ashbourne Business Park.

The new development, which is three times the size of the Croke Park pitch, will add to the company’s footprint which currently spans over 1 million sq feet across ten industrial units in Ireland and the UK.

I’d like to congratulate the Primeline team on reaching this milestone and wish them the very best of luck for the next step on their journey ”.

A key goal for Enterprise Ireland is to support companies to make the transition to the low-carbon, resource-efficient economy of the future and we are delighted to work with Tim, Danny and the team to support them on advancing their sustainability plans for the company. I would like to congratulate Primeline on today’s significant expansion announcement in Ashbourne and wish them the very best with this impressive net zero hub.”

Primeline Group’s fleet of vehicles makes over 25,000 deliveries to more than 7,500 outlets around Ireland each week. The Group has developed its logistics network to ensure it covers every town in Ireland every day. Its sales colleagues call on more than 3,000 retail outlets monthly.

The new hub was designed to minimise the impact on the surrounding area of its energy use, in line with Primeline Group's determination to play its part in addressing environmental concerns. As a net zero energy building compliant facility, the building respects local targets for energy use and uses all renewable energy sources.
