Curraha...3-14

Carnaross and Curraha served up a rip-roaring encounter in round 6 of the PMC Physiotherapy FL Division 9.

Both teams were intent on attacking from the off, with not a sweeper in sight. Carnaross hit 3 first half goals, one from each member of the full forward line, Paddy Nugent, John L McGee and Killian Porter.

Curraha remained in touch with some sharp shooting from their corner forward ,Coyle, who registered 1-7 in the first half. At half time, the score was Carnaross 3-7 to Curraha’s 1-9.

In the third quarter Carnaross stretched out the lead to seven points with some fine scores from the McGee brothers. Dermot drove from midfield very effectively and John L made some spectacular high catches to give Carnaross the advantage heading for home.

Charlie Murphy and Dean Connell became vital outlets for the transition as Charlie Murphy’s scores and Connell’s work-rate gave the home side a constant out.

Liam Day was the hero of the hour as he made multiple one on one saves in both halves keeping Curraha to three goals.

He also found Tommy Brady time and again from his accurate kickouts. The Carnaross defence, spearheaded by Thomas Nugent and Cormac Yore, repelled numerous attacks from the ‘Ha.

When the game entered additional time, Carnaross’ lead was cut from seven to two but panic never ensued. The insurance score was kicked and the Ross ran out three point victors.
