Navan stay on course for third place finish

It's a case of very much as you were in AIL Div 2A table after today's series of games with Navan firmly entrenched in third place.

The top team is promoted while those who finish in second, third and fourth places go into a play-off with the second-last team from Div 1B.

Ray Moloney's side clocked up an impressive 39-14 win over Blackrock College away last night and today table-toppers Highfield defeated second place Cashel 27-24.

However, perhaps of even more significance for Navan, Queens University clocked up a massive 73-7 win over Galwegians today. Queens are the only team with realistic chances of overtaking Navan. Highfield are top with 71 points, Cashel 58, Navan 54 and Queens with 50. UL Bohs trail in fifth place with 40 points.

Last night Navan recorded their victory over Blackrock with the help of tries from Conor Farrell, Shane Faulkner, Evan Dixon and Ben McEntagart. A penalty try was also awarded to the visitors with Brian Haugh scoring from two penalties and three conversions.

This was a famous victory for the Balreask Old side against one of the most famous names in Irish rugby - and a sign of how Navan have progressed.
