Damien Doyle and Curtis Harding played a thrilling final in The Lantern on Monday night.

Harding edges out Doyle in thriller

There was a great turn out for the Navan & District Darts League singles tournament at The Lantern on Monday night last where the excitement levels were rising all night with Curtis Harding taking the glory in a thriller from Damien Doyle in the final.

Some 40 players set out on the race (like the Grand National) but there were lots of fallers early on and a number of shocks to keep the spectators enthralled throughout the evening.

In the first round there where lots 180 scores and high checkouts and a few of those major shocks.

Father and son were in opposition as Stephen Kells took on Stephen kells junior and order was maintained with the 'old man' shading the verdict (comfotably according to himself) by 3-1.

In round two, the big boys were at it with Damien Doyle against Stephen Kells.

They were pegging the treble 20s out of it, but in the end Damo won 3-2 in a great game.

Quarter finals saw wins for Mark Carolan and Martin dowdall (3- 0 each) wins along with wins for Harding aand Doyle.

Then, it got much more serious and in the semi-finals Damo Doyle defeated Martin Dowdall by 3-2 while Curtis Harding got the better of Martin Varolan by 3-1.

Damo took the first in 15 darts and a 120 checkout

Curtis bounced back and took the second game.

Damo went 2-1 up in the third.
Curtis took the fourth to leave it all square going into the last leg of the night.

And what a last leg it rurned out to be with some great darts, TV stuff all over it, but Curtis won 3-2
