St Pat's march on in Leinster

St Patrick’s CS Navan marched into the Leinster Colleges SFC quarter-finals with the minimum of fuss at Pairc Tailteann today following a comfortable 1-11 to 0-6 victory over Patrician Newbridge.
The Kildare school brought a big reputation to Navan having knocked out a fancied Athlone CC side in the previous round, but they struggled to gain a foothold in this game as the impressive St Pat’s rearguard restricted them to just four points from play.
The visitors started well and raced into a two-point lead, but St Pat’s settled with a couple of Eoin Finnegan frees and a point from Eanna O’Kelly-Lynch restoring parity 0-3 each.
It was still a tight game in the lead up to half-time, but when Finnegan climbed highest to punch Eanna Mooney’s short point attempt to the net it gifted St Pat’s a 1-5 to 0-4 interval lead and they never looked back.
Patrician managed just two points after the break as O’Kelly-Lynch inspired St Pat’s to a comfortable afternoon’s work and a place in the last eight.
