O'Growney cup for Kilmessan

There was some compensation for Kilmessan hurlers today to make some form of amends for a disappointing championship when they claimed the A HL Div 1 title for the O'Growney Cup with a narrow 1-13 to 1-11 victory against neighbours and ricals Kiltale at Trim.

For Kiltale it was a disappointing reversal as they relinquished their grip on the trophy they won 12 months ago.

However, the game will be of benefit to Kiltale as they prepare for next weekend's Leinster Club IHC semi-final agianst Portlaoise at the same venue.

Today in Trim, Kilmessan were ahead by 1-10 to 0-3 at the interval and James Battersby's side did enough to weather the second-half storm and take the silverware home.
