Time to party for Boardsmill and Ballivor players

Perry buying the pints in Kildalkey

The combination of Ballivor and Boardsmill proved too strong for Gaeil Colmcille in the MFL Div 4 final at Páirc Táilteann today with centre-back Morgan Callaghan popping up with the winning point in added time after Aaron Byass and Adam Chesser combined to make the opening for a 3-11 to 3-10 victory.

This was a thriller and for long periods it looked like Gaeil Colmcille would win as they were ahead by 2-6 to 1-4 at the interval with goals from Shane Freeman and Jonathon Hogg.

Ballivor / Boardsmill were well off the pace for the opening exchanges, but found a bit of fluency midway through the half with Aaron Brennan finding the net following a good move for a score that gave the combination a great lift.

Callaghan's goal soon after the resumption gave Ballivor / Boardsmill another boost and they forged ahead when substitute Liam Hynes netted for a 3-8 to 2-9 advantage at the three-quarter stage.

Gaeil Colmcille bounced back with a Cian McManus goal, but it wasn't enough and the Ballivor / Boardsmill boys prevailed.

With joint-captains, two speeches were necessary and it was stated 'Paul Perry(selector) is buying the first round of pints in Kildalkey tonight' to a great cheer from the supporters.
