Cromwell has the magical touch

Meath trainer Gavin Cromwell was on the mark at Thurles yesterday with the 10-year-old mare Magical Mother which was winning after a promising run at Galway on the October Bank Holiday Monday.

Magical Mother justified favouritism in the Thurles Handicap Chase for Cork owner Thomas Browne who sent the 10-year-old to the Meath trainer for a change of scenery.

The move appears to have worked a treat with jockey Brien Kane winning well for his eighth winner this year.

Gordon Elliott continued his recent run of success with his third winner in November at Thurles yesterday where Nina Carberry partnered Ball d'Arc, which was having its first run for the stable, to a convincing win in the concluding bumper.
