Showtime Cinemas in Ashbourne unveils new look

Local cinemagoers are in for a treat this week when the Showtime Cinemas in Ashbourne unveils its new look.

Already one of Ireland’s most comfortable and progressive cinemas, Showtime have upgraded their equipment to offer the country’s newest most complete digital experience in their six-screen complex. 

'We have undergone an all-digital makeover, which means that the Showtime experience will be the perfect marriage of sound and vision for our customers,” said cinema manager Ruth Carolan.

“We were already one of the best cinemas in the country for sound but by going fully digital we are able to avail of the digital encoded soundtracks which will really highlight our newly-installed Dolby Digital EX surround sound system.

“We have also increased the brightness on screen by 20% to give a vivid real-life lighting effect – which will have a huge impact especially with 3D movies.”

Showtime Cinemas in Ashbourne Retail Park was one of the first cinemas in the country to show 3D movies, and with their revamp, they have trebled their 3D capacity in the six-screen complex.

“For those who haven’t had the Showtime experience, we have the best rocker seats, the greatest legroom and our massive screens in screens one and two are amongst the biggest in the country,” said Ruth.

“As well as the in-cinema changes, we have introduced a new seating area, and new decor and we feel sure that our customers will feel the wow factor from the moment they enter.

“We’ve been incredibly innovative with our offerings and have introduced Super Tuesday where all standard tickets are just €4.99 all day, with packages including tickets, popcorn and a drink for €9.99.”

In addition to the proven popularity of Super Tuesday, Showtime’s gaming fans can experience their favourite games in all their glory on the big screen where up to 20 people can battle it out on Xbox and Playstation 3 games in their own private cinema.

Superhero fans will be able to check out the new Showtime with a fantastic Thor double bill featuring 'Thor' 3D at 9.30pm with a midnight first showing of 'Thor: The Dark World' 3D.
