McDonogh on the mark at Navan

Fresh from his success at Longchamp on Sunday where he guided Maarek to victory in the Prix de l'Abbaye, Declan McDonogh was on the mark at Navan today when he won a one-mile maiden with the John Oxx-trained Ebasani.

McDonogh's mount was sent off the 4/9 favourite for the Navan event and the Moynalty man had a length to spare at the post.

The big news at Navan today was the achievement of Joseph O'Brien who broke Michael Kinane's long-standing record for 114 winners in a season with a double that put him on the 116 mark.

In Paris last Sunday, McDonogh partnered Irish raider Maarek to victory in that Prix de l'Abbaye for trainer Barry Lalor.

Next on the horizon is Ascot for the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes.
