Meath flavour at Roscommon

Nina Carberry returned to the winners' enclosure on board the Noel Meade-trained Ange Balafre in the concluding bumper at Roscommon yesterday where there was a real Royal County flavour for local trainers and jockeys.

Carberry sent the French-bred to the front about two furlongs out and the duo held on despite a strong challenge from Henry’s Girl and Derek O’Connor.

Andrew Lynch was also on the mark in a novice chase for trainer Henry de Bromhead with Darwins Fox which had all of 13 lengths to spare at the line.

On the flat there was a winner for Kiltale handler Ger Lyons with Wyoyo which will be heading for the sales ring. Declan McDonogh was on the mark with the John Oxx-trained Timikar

The father and son combination of Gerry and Colin Keane completed the successful evening for Meath connections.

Colin Keane partnered Captain Cullen to victory in a seven-furlong handicap to move on to 27 winners this year.
