Navan in the pink for world record attempt at Balreask Old

Navan RFC will make a second bid to break the world record for the most consecutive rugby passes next Saturday at the fifth annual Pink Day in aid of breast cancer awareness at Balreask Old, 11.30. Last year they managed 264 successful passes, just 15 short of the record (279) set by Welsh club Newport Gwent Dragons. Navan RFC host their annual Pink Day, together with the official Guinness World Record attempt for the most consecutive rugby passes and it will be scrutinised by the Guinness World Records organisation. Over the last four years, Navan RFC's Pink Days have raised nearly €50,000. Anyone who wishes to be part of this historic event can register from 11.0 next Saturday at Navan RFC by making a voluntary contribution to Breast Cancer Awareness. Registration can also be made in advance at: www.navanworldrecord.eventbrite.com Navan RFC will then play Wanderers in the AIL Div2B at 2.30 and will wear special pink jerseys. This game should also attract a big crowd as the Navan players have produced some good form over the last few weeks as they bid to consolidate their position in the All-Ireland League. After the game the match jerseys will be auctioned to raise even more funds to help fight Breast Cancer. There was some great bidding battles 12 months ago and the organisers are optimistic that they can at least match the amount that was raised last year. All proceeds go to the Irish Cancer Society, with generous sponsors covering all expenses involved in staging the event. The sponsors include Lír Chocolates, Nissan and Heineken. There will also be a ladies pink champagne reception at 1.0 as well as bouncy castles, face painting and a barbecue.
