Kells volunteer recruitment evening

A volunteer recruitment evening will take place tomorrow (Thursday) for anyone interested in working with young people in Kells, from 7pm-8pm in the Kells Resource Centre. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to sign up to three different organisations - The No Name Club, Foroige Ireland and the Meath Youth Federation. The evening is part of an ambitious plan to set up three operating clubs in the town. The project has been spearheaded by Cllr Sarah Reilly in conjunction with The Kells Resource Centre and Meath Volunteer Centre. "In partnership with The Kells Resource Centre and the Meath Volunteer Centre, I am seeking to set up three youth clubs. "The different groups will cater for different age groups so all children and teenagers between the ages of eight and 18 will be catered for. "Presently, there is a lack of social networking opportunities in Kells for young people, especially for older teenagers. I am determined to provide them with opportunities to meet new people and learn social skills in a supportive environment," said Cllr Reilly. "No previous experience is required, just a desire to work with young people, have a bit of fun and be a good role model. Indeed, all persons who register as interested volunteers will be provided with excellent opportunities to learn new skills as full training will be provided. Furthermore, the various clubs are always on hand to provide support and guidance. Undoubtedly, this is an exciting opportunity for person seeking to gain employment working with young people as they will gain relevant experience," she added.
