Kiltale on the road in leinster again

Kiltale produced a gritty Leinster Club IHC victory over Wexford side Naomh Eanna from Gorey by 2-13 to 1-13 this afternoon at Trim.

“We knew we had to grind it out, to keep going, to keep working hard for the 60 minutes,' Kiltale manager Trevor Cummins commented.

“We will be back training this week now to get ready for the game against Portlaoise, that will be a tough one for us,” he added.

Kiltale managed a goal in each half and they were ahead by 1-6 to 0-6 at the interval with Cathal McCabe finding the net in the eighth minute.

Jack Regan converted two '65s’ and a free while Eamon Ryan, Padraig kelly and Peter Durnin completed the first-half points tally.

Naomh Eanna reeled off points from Padraig Doyle (three) and Conor McDonald to tie the scores at 0-10 to 1-7 with Durnin on target for Kiltale early in the second-half.

Anthony Forde scored a second goal for Kiltale with 20 minutes remaining, but the Wexford side kept battling and closed the gap to two points when McDonald found the net in the closing stages.

However, Kiltale battened down the hatches to advance.

Next up for Kiltale is a home semi-final against Portlaoise on Sunday 8th November.
