Victory for donaghmoreashbourne

A Donaghamore / Ashbourne selection last night recorded a 57 to 34 win over the the touring Australian Victoria Amateur Football Association selection in a Compromise Rues encounter in a well-contested game at Ashbourne.

The Donaghmore/Ashbourne selection was boosted by the inclusion of Joe Sheridan,Graham Reilly and Harry Rooney to play the Victoria team.

This was the fourth game in the VAFA tour of Ireland, they had beaten Cork u-21 and the Combined Universities and lost to Tuam Stars.

 

INTERNATIONAL RULES UPDATE

Dublin's Bernard Brogan will captain the Joe Kernan-managed EirGrid Ireland International Rules team in the upcoming series against Australia at Croke Park. The panel for the game will be announced early next month.

Brogan has previosly played twice for Ireland, back in the 2010 series. He was top scorer in the first game defeat in Limerick with nine points and he scored five in the second game reversal in Croke Park.

Ireland will meet Australia on the evening of Saturday 21st November - the 95th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

In addition to commemorative activity on the night to mark the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, there will also be a schedule of family entertainment which will be confirmed in the coming weeks.  

Tickets for the Croke Park encounter are currently on sale via www.gaa.ie and participating SuperValu and Centra outlets, priced at €25 for adults and €5 for children.

Group and school passes are also available, €3 per child with one adult free with every 10 children.
