Kells turns pink

Today marks the start of the Irish Cancer Society's month-long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign – and what better way to support it than by joining in the Boyne Valley Pink Ribbon Walk in Kells on Sunday 5th October.

The fundraising event aims to raise money for Action Breast Cancer, which is a programme overseen by the Irish Cancer Society.

One of the leading fundraisers is Deirdre Butler from Kells, whose late brother John was was diagnosed with cancer. Over the past four years, Ms Butler has raised €21,000 for the Pink Ribbon Walk .

The heritage town of Kells will turn pink in support of Sunday's event, with many local businesses and shops dressing their windows with colourful displays.

There's still time to register for the event, and it's not just for women either. Men are welcome to take part, as are teams and families with children over the age of 12.
