Ronan keating launches sleep pink 2014

Now in its fourth year, Sleep Pink is an annual nationwide charity campaign run by Harvey Norman in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation. Sleep Pink will run from 1st–31st October 2014 and this year, Harvey Norman is aiming to raise €40,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation during that time. A percentage from the sale of all items in the Harvey Norman Sleep Pink range will be donated to the foundation; the Sleep Pink range includes mattresses, divans, pillows and more.

The foundation was set up in memory of former Dunshaughlin hairdresser, Marie Keating, and Sleep Pink was launched by her son, Ronan, former Boyzone singer who is to play the lead in Once in the West End in London.

Her daughter, Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising, Marie Keating Foundation, said: “The Marie Keating Foundation does not receive any government funding so we simply would not exist were it not for the generous support of companies such as Harvey Norman. We would like to also thank Harvey Norman staff, suppliers and customers at all of the outlets around the country. We are delighted that we are once again the chosen charity for this campaign and hope that this year we can top the amount that was raised by Sleep Pink in 2013 to support our breast cancer awareness services. We also hope to see as many people as possible visit our Mobile Information Units which will be parked outside Harvey Norman stores throughout the month of October. It’s a great opportunity to come on board and get some advice about cancer prevention while you are out and about.”

Linda Keating added: “When you are popping into Harvey Norman during October, don’t forget to bring your unwanted bras. All Harvey Norman stores are kindly hosting bra bins as part of our Give Your Bra for Breast Cancer campaign this Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign, which is proudly supported by Roche Products (Ireland) Limited, will see the Marie Keating Foundation receive €1 for every bra donated throughout October.”

“Sleep is the cornerstone of our health and we are delighted to ‘Sleep Pink’ for the fourth year supporting the Marie Keating Foundation, raising funds and awareness about Breast Cancer. This campaign is made possible from our terrific staff and the fantastic support of our locally made brands such as King Koil, Therapedic, ThermoPure, The Soft Bedding Company and Sealy.” Robbie Auckram, General Manager Bedding Ireland.

The Marie Keating Foundation Mobile Information Units will be visiting the following Harvey Norman stores during the month of October:

2nd October,  Harvey Norman Waterford and Harvey Norman Blanchardstown; 9th October 2014,  Harvey Norman Limerick; 10th October,  Harvey Norman Drogheda; 16th October, Harvey Norman Rathfarnham; 23rd October,  Harvey Norman Carrickmines, 30th October,  Harvey Norman Swords.

Meanwhile,  the Irish Cancer Society is calling on the people of Meath to help those living with breast cancer by supporting Paint it Pink Day on Friday 3rd  October 2014. Paint it Pink Day offers an enjoyable way for people to support the Irish Cancer Society’s breast cancer services, research and advocacy work.

The campaign is all about doing something big or small to ‘paint it pink’ on October 3rd by hosting a pink event or doing something pink, then sharing pictures of the activity on social media using the hashtag #PINKPICS, and texting the word Pink 50300 to donate €4 to the Society. Volunteers will also be on streets nationwide selling Paint it Pink ribbons which can be bought and worn throughout the day.
