Two more people arrested, €350k in cash and drugs found in follow-up operation to Meath €2.4m drug seizure

The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau seized €200,000 cash and a substantial amount of controlled drugs following searches in Co. Laois, yesterday, Wednesday 24th April 2024.

This seizure was made during follow up searches which formed part of the operation on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 in Co Meath which resulted in the recovery of €2.4 million of cannabis by Revenue Customs Officers.

During the course of these searches cash in excess of €200,000, €140,000 suspected cannabis, €10,000 suspected MDMA tablets and a substantial amount of counterfeit prescription tablets were seized. A sophisticated illicit pill making facility, including a pill press, was also seized.

All items of evidential value recovered will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further examination.

A man, aged in his 50s, and a woman, aged in her 40s, have been arrested. Both are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in Co. Laois.

The two men (50s) arrested in connection with the €2.4 million cannabis seizure remain in custody at a Garda Station Co Meath.
