Delegates and officials at tonight Meath Ladies Co Board AGM.

Search goes on for officials as 'no games' cloud looms

Who wants to be a fixtures secretary? That was the question that was asked at tonight's Meath Ladies Gaelic Football Co Board AGM with chairman Fearghal Harney pointing out that unless officials with responsibility for fixtures were appointed there could be no games in the new year.

In an unusual move both out-going fixture secretaries - Padraig McDermott (adult) and Deirdre Mitchell (juvenile) - stepped down from their positions leaving two very significant roles to be filled.

The well-known and popular PRO Anne Dungan also indicated that she would be stepping down from the positon after heading the Co Board PR department for a number of years. She received high praise at the meeting for her efficiency in the role.

Harney warned that unless fixtures secretaries were appointed at the Co Board's adjourned AGM in January there was a real danger no games would be played.

"That's the big one. If we don't have fixtures secretaries appointed at January Co Board there will be no games going ahead," he commented.

There was a fixtures committee appointed but the search goes on for fixtures secretaries to head up the committee.

In his address to the 60 or so delegates in attendance the Co Board chairman thanked all the officials on the Co Board for helping to ensure 2018 was a "memorable" year for the ladies game in Meath.

While Harney was returned as chairman, Tom Wall was re-elected vice-chair, Mary O'Regan as secretary and Patricia Mead was returned as treasurer.
