Irish Cancer Society call off Daffodil Day events

The Irish Cancer Society (ICS) has cancelled all Daffodil Day street collections including those in Meath. 

Collections were due to take place in several towns on March 27.  The society has taken the decision in order to protect the health and wellbeing of patients, volunteers and supporters.

"The Irish Cancer Society has taken the decision today to cancel all Daffodil Day street collections and events that were scheduled for March 27th,” said CEO Averil Power.

"We have made this decision to protect the health and wellbeing of our patients, volunteers and supporters. 

 

"We also want to focus all our energies on providing cancer patients and their families with the information, advice and support they need at this time."

Ten more people tested positive in Ireland for the deadly disease — bringing the total to 34.

In Northern Ireland, 16 people have tested positive for Covid-19 meaning there are now 50 confirmed cases of the virus on the island of Ireland.
