Moves underway to build link road from Dublin side of Dunshaughlin to M3

Confirmation by Meath County Council that they will  prepare a capital appraisal for a Link Road between the M3 and R147 on the Dublin side of Dunshaughlin and submit it to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for funding in 2020 has been welcomed by  Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty TD together and local Cllr Gerry O’Connor.

Minister Doherty said:

“Dunshaughlin is heaving with new housing and new residents, there are currently hundreds of new homes either under construction or in planning, all of which adds to pressure on the R147 at rush hour with the majority of residents leaving Dunshaughlin each morning to go to work mostly in Dublin. This proposed Link Road would deliver much-needed traffic calming and relieve some of the pressure for commuting residents during the morning and evening rush hours.

Cllr Gerry O’Connor said:

“I welcome the response from Meath County Council that they will submit a Preliminary Capital Assessment to the Department for this vital transport link and following our meeting with Minister Shane Ross recently where the Department agreed that this was a necessary project due to the expansion of population in Dunshaughlin, I would be hopeful of a positive response for funding in 2020.

Under the Capital Project Appraisal process a Preliminary Appraisal must be submitted in relation to all proposed projects to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for consideration under the Specific and Strategic Grant Programmes.
