Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival Directors Neil Goodman and Brian O' Flaherty

For the love of vinyl!

The much–anticipated Vinyl Festival coming to Dún Laoghaire this November will be an unmissable experience for music and vinyl record aficionados. The festival will take place in a selection of venues around Dún Laoghaire including The Lexicon Library Studio, The National Maritime Museum and Eblana Senior College.

Taking place over three days from November 16th to 18th, the Vinyl Festival will involve a collection of talks and discussions relating to all aspects of vinyl recordings from writing, recording, producing and performing, down to examining sleeve design and liner notes.

Bringing together a wide selection of talent including international musicians, writers and filmmakers, all of whom will take part in a broad series of discussions and play a selection of their own favourite vinyl records, this promises to be an extra special event with a difference.

The line-up of talented artists and special guests participating over the three-day extravaganza includes Joe Jackson, Horslips, Lenny Abrahamson, Don Letts, Gavin Friday, Bronagh Gallagher, Kevin Godley, Julie Feeney, Steve Averill and Adrian Dunbar along with many more. Established radio DJs Dave Fanning and Tom Dunne will act as moderators and interviewers for several of the discussions.

One of the focus points of the festival is to consider the importance and significance of vinyl records in our culture today and there will also be a record fair on site for the three days for music fans looking to purchase some special vinyls.

Brian O’Flaherty and Neil Goodman, directors of the Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival commented on how the festival came about: ‘A love of music, the excitement at the return of an old format that many felt was gone and a wish to celebrate it in our local community; these are the reasons we decided to create the Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival. Something for audiophiles of all ages and musical tastes, from punk to soul; recording to sleeve design, with vinyl the music is only part of the story.’

Tickets for the Vinyl Festival start at €10 plus booking fee. More information can be found on the website https://www.vinylfestival.ie/
