League title for Ashbourne

Donaghmore/Ashbourne finished their season on a winning note when they captured the A FL Div 1 title at Simonstown tonight. Donaghmore/Ashbourne had to work hard to get the better of St Patrick's by 1-8 to 0-7 after the sides turned over at 0-4 apiece for the second-half. Paul Gilligan found the net for the winners late in the game only minutes after he missed a gilt-edged opportunity. For manager Sean Kelly it was satisfactory way to finish his term in charge and team captain Eoin Riordan thanked the manager for his contribution to the club this year. Meath manager Mick O'Dowd was present at the game as he continues to assess players. Meath Co Board vice-chairman Conor Tormey presented the trophy.
