Ashbourne Library hosts a not to be missed, edge of your seat event as Eoin Colfer takes you on an adrenaline fuelled exposé of teenage criminal mastermind, Artemis Fowl, and talks about the eagerly anticipated final instalment in the Artemis Fowl series, Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian. There will be a book shop at this event in Ashbourne Library on Saturday October 6th at 11am, and Eoin will sign books afterwards. This is a free event but booking is essential through Ashbourne Library at (01) 8358185. Artemis Fowl is a phenomenally successful series of eight science fantasy novels, starring teenage criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl. Colfer once summed up the series as: "Die Hard" with fairies. Eoin's first book, Benny and Omar, was published back in 1998. He has also written several other books such as The Supernaturalist and Airman. Included in his legends series is every librarian's favourite book...The Legend of Spud Murphy (a truly terrifying librarian!) Eoin has also written books for adults. He was commissioned to write the sixth instalment of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" entitled And Another Thing...He also published "Plugged", another book for adults last year. Eoin Colfer was born in Wexford in 1965, where he and his four brothers were brought up by his father (a primary school teacher, historian and artist of note) and mother (a drama teacher). He first developed an interest in writing in primary school with gripping Viking stories inspired by history he was learning in school at the time!
