Enfield Revue show plays to packed houses
Enfield Revue 2010, which took place in the Hamlet Court Hotel in Johnstownbridge for four nights last week, was a resounding success, playing to full houses each night. The popular variety show featured music, dancing, comedy and solo acts with cast members from Enfield, Johnstownbridge, Cavan, Kinnegad, Longwood, Trim, Summerhill, Kilcock, Clonard, Celbridge and Edenderry. The first part of the show included dancing choruses 'Fascination', 'Broadway' and 'Fame'; comedy sketches 'Courthouse', 'Breakfast Table', 'Hero's Return' and 'Stewards Enquiry', as well as solo performances from Brian Fagan and Eamon O'Connor. After the interval, there was plenty more entertainment and humour with dance choruses, 'Steaming Summer', 'Hot'n'Cold' and 'Foot Stomping'; comedy sketches 'Newstalk', 'Back to School', 'Talk Of The Town' and 'Canal Bank Guesthouse'. There were also performances from Young Generation and Arthur Stone before the curtains came down after the show-stopping finale. The Revue is headed by chairman Jimmy Keogh who has been with the Enfield group since the first show back in 1984. Revue 2010 is the 22nd production for the group and this year's show was choreographed by Corona Cosgrave. It was not staged in 2001 due to the foot-and-mouth outbreak and took a break from 2003-2006 before returning with a bang and fresh start in the Hamlet Court Hotel in 2007. This year, as a fundraiser, Enfield Revue held the first 'Ms Enfield Revue' contest, which was a hugely successful event. Revue 2010 has extended thanks to the O'Neill family and the Hamlet Court Hotel, and all sponsors for their support.
