Trophy parade for Trim Celtic

Trim tops at NEFL awards ceremony

Trim Celtic swept the boards on Sunday evening at the Ardboyne Hotel when the North East Football League presented the individual and club awards for 2019.

The presentation ceremony and social event took place following the annual general meeting with Trim Celtic scooping the club of the year accolade.

There was also recognition for Alan Murphy who was announced as the manager of the year following a season in which he guided the club to the NEFL Premier title and the Challenge Cup.

Trim Celtic also got through to the sixth round of the FAI Junior Cup and only exited that prestigious competition on Sunday afternoon when they lost out to a strong Ferrybank side from Waterford.

However, there won't be too much rest for the Trim players as they will be back in action this Saturday in the Leinster Junior Cup when they host Leinster Senior League side Bluebell Utd.

Also collecting trophies on Sunday were Trim Celtic players Jack O'Keeffe (overall player of the year) and Dominic Fagan (Div 3 player of the year).

There was a special recognition award for Mike Ennis from Athboy who was one of the founder  members of the local club and was acknowledged for his contribution over a period of close to 40 years.

Other individual winners:

Niall Babbington of Carrick Rovers Div 1 player of the year
