Nobber Fair Day on Sunday

Nobber Vintage Club will hold its ninth annual fair day in the village, this Sunday from 12 noon.
There will be plenty of animals on display from donkeys, to alpaca as well as rare breed sheep and peacocks.
A great family day out, there will be lots of amusements and attractions for the children. There will be music throughout the day from Matt Leavy, Paul Leavy, Charlie Arkins, Ray Murtagh and Shot Gun Shanky and the Bullets.
A pig will be roasted on the spit and there will be plenty of craft and food stalls. A new addition to this year’s line up is a food fair.
A vintage car and tractor rally will take place in the field behind the national school and Nobber Vintage Club is celebrating 50 years of John Deere in Ireland, the 70th anniversary of the Ferguson TE20, the 50th anniversary of the Hillman Hunter and the 50th anniversary of the Ford Cortina Mk2.
Up to this year, Nobber Fair Day was always held in May, the Sunday after Dunderry Fair Day. This year the committee decided to move the date to June, so that it wasn’t so close to Dunderry’s fair day and also in the hope of better weather.
What they didn’t bank on was that it would clash with the Ireland v France game, and the Meath v Dublin game!
A huge voluntary effort goes into running the fair each year and from first light the volunteers are out setting up pens and getting everything ready. When the fair is over, the rest of the hard work is only starting for the volunteers as the clean-up operation begins!
Entry is €10 for adults and children under 16 are free. There is plenty of free parking both sides of the village,
