Man (70s) dies following N51 single vehicle road traffic collision

A man aged in his 70s has died following a single vehicle collision on the N51 outside Slane.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic incident on the N51, Janeville, Slane, Co. Meath on Tuesday 18th August 2026.

The single vehicle incident involved a car and occurred shortly after 10:40am.

A male driver (aged in his 70s) was treated at the scene and conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

He was subsequently pronounced deceased on Tuesday 18th August 2026.

The coroner has been notified.

The road was closed for a period and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N51 near Janeville, Slane, Co. Meath on Tuesday 18th August 2026 between 10:15am and 10:45am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
