Spanish pride shines in Bohermeen ahead of World Cup Final
A group of Spanish students who are spending three weeks studying English at St. Ultan's National School in Bohermeen shared their excitement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina, which takes place this Sunday, 19 July.
The students, who come from cities including Valencia, Barcelona and Seville, proudly wore their Spanish jerseys, painted their faces and waved their national flags as they showed their support for La Roja. Although they will be away from home for the final, they said they are proud to represent their country during their stay in Ireland.
When asked for their predictions ahead of the match, the students repeatedly named fan favourites Lamine Yamal, Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal as the players they believe will score during the final.
Speaking about watching such a significant sporting occasion away from home, student Martina said: "It is great to represent your country somewhere else in the world, but I would also like to be there with my family and friends in Spain watching the match. I get to meet new people and make new friends who share the same opinion as me, so it is a good thing too."
