Kilmessan Post Office has relocated from one end of the village to the other after Marie Thornes retired as post mistress. Taking over the outlet is Gary Costello of Centra, who has restyled a section of his store to accommodate the post office, where Carmel Yore and Theresa Fletcher will continue to serve the needs of customers.

There were celebratory balloons and refreshments last week as the opening of the new facility took place, with parish priest Fr Terry Toner dropping in to give his blessing. Following the closure of Tara and Dunsany post offices in recent years, the outlet services a wide hinterland.
