Mother of missing teenager makes emotional appeal

The mother of missing 14-year-old Navan boy Benjamin Spot is preparing to travel to Ireland tomorrow to help in the search for her son.

Speaking to the Meath Chronicle from her home in Slovakia this morning, Renata Molnarova made an emotional appeal to anyone who has any information that could help in the search for her son to come forward.

She is urging his friends or anyone who knows anything- no matter how small it may seem- to tell a parent or a teacher in the hope that it might help the search for her son who has been missing since 19th November.

Benjamin Spot, from Johnstown, was last seen cycling from the Market Square in Navan towards the Kentstown Road/Ramparts area of Navan last Wednesday evening, 19th November 2025 around 5.55pm.

Benjamin’s bicycle was subsequently found at the Ramparts, Navan the following day, 20th November. He is described as being approximately 5 foot 1 inches in height, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

On Wednesday, Gardai renewed their missing person's appeal and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Searches have been ongoing in the Ramparts and along the Boyne for Benjamin and another missing man Jordan Newman (27) who has been missing since 10th November.

Renata, who is due to arrive in Ireland tomorrow, spoke emotionally about her son who she calls 'Beni' describing him as a smart, clever, funny boy who is popular, with a lot of friends. She is clinging to the hope that he is still alive and says she does not believe that he is in the river.

Speaking about her son, she said: "Beni is always one step on front of me. He is very smart. He is very clever. He is a good student. He doesn't have to try hard to learn, he is a very good student."

Renata has been living in Slovakia since June 2023. Most recently she spent two weeks with Beni during the summer and they did some travelling visiting Budapest, Prague and Vienna and Renata told how he was great at getting around and finding where they wanted to go.

She is appealing to his friends or anyone who knows anything to come forward with the information. She is also asking anyone who was walking in the area around that time, or any cars that were passing that might have dash cam footage, or any cctv in the area.

Renata is particularly appealing to Beni's friends that if they known anything at all, anything that may seem insignificant to make sure to tell their parents, or if they know of other people he had been hanging out with, to come forward.

Gardai continue to appeal for information and as part of their investigation have collected extensive cctv which is being reviewed. The investigation is being led by the Meath North Community Engagement Area with the assistance of the Meath Divisional Crime Unit.

An incident room has been opened at Navan Garda Station. A family liaison officer has been appointed.

Gardai have spoken to a number of Benjamin's friends as part of their enquiries and have appealed for anyone else who may have information that they feel could assist in the investigation to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 9036100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
