Plans in works for 14-house Ratoath age-friendly estate
Plans are currently in the works for 14 new age-friendly homes in Ratoath which include parking space and a small park. The site, located along the Skryne road in Ratoath between the roundabouts leading to Dunshaughlin and Supervalu, is currently in the planning stages and was on display in the Ratoath Municipal District meeting this month.
One third of the site area will be turned into a new park area open to the main street with parking spaces available for each house. Concerns regarding traffic congestion were addressed with the presenting architect Denise Curtis saying traffic is "quite low" in age-friendly areas.
Councillor Yvonne Edwards said she is not a fan of the housing being at the back because it can lead to a higher chance of anti-social behaviour and the park is too small, saying it is closer to being a green area. Denise Curtis said housing at back of the estate will improve security through passive surveillance and there will be two car park spaces for each house. It is also expected that lighting will be installed to further deter anti-social behaviour.
