Funeral of Virginia man who died in work place accident to take place this weekend
The funeral details have been confirmed for a Virginia man in his 40s who died in a workplace accident in the North earlier this week.
Darren O'Dwyer from Behernagh, Virginia, died while at work in the Drumaran Road area of Gilford, Co Down, on Tuesday, June 3.
The Irish Sidecar Champion was the much loved partner of Jamie and father of Saoirse, Aaron and step-daughter Paige.
Mr O'Dwyer will be Reposing at O'Dwyer's Funeral Home (A82C2N6) this Saturday evening from 5-8pm.
His removal will take place from his residence this Sunday to St Bartholomew's Church, Munterconnaught, for 2pm Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
The PSNI confirmed the accident to this newspaper yesterday.
A spokesperson told the Celt: "Police received a report of the sudden death of a man aged in his 40s in the Drumaran Road area of Gilford on Tuesday 3rd June.
"Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from other emergency services.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed."
A spokesperson from the Health and Safety Executive NI said: “HSENI is aware of an incident in the Gilford area and is making enquiries.”
In life, Mr O'Dwyer was a keen motorbike enthusiast and competitor who held the Irish Sidecar Champion title.
He also leaves behind his heartbroken parents Tony and Olive, brother Philip, sister Samantha , sister in-law Joanne, brother in-law Danny, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and large circle of friends.
