Navan based gym hosts Halloween fundraiser for Lyme Disease

On Halloween morning, DGC Studios in Navan will be aiming to turn horror into hope, as its community comes together for a very special cause.

Over 40 people will take part in a five-hour fitness challenge, pushing themselves physically to help raise much-needed funds for a family who have been living through their own real-life horror story.

Anne-Marie, aged just 36, has been battling a debilitating illness for over three years, leaving her largely housebound and bed bound. Once a healthy, active woman who worked passionately as a social care worker supporting vulnerable women and children, Anne-Marie's life has been completely turned upside down.

Following years of medical appointments, treatments and uncertainty, Anne-Marie was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. Her family is now desperately trying to raise €62,000 to help her access specialist treatment at Klinik St. Georg in Germany, in the hope of improving her quality of life and regaining some of the independence she has lost.

The challenge, fittingly named "Every Beat Counts," will see participants work together to accumulate an incredible 62,000 Heart Points, representing the €62,000 needed for Anne-Marie's treatment.

Each participant will wear a live heart rate monitor, with their efforts tracked on screens throughout the day. The harder they work, the more points they earn, with everyone contributing towards one collective goal.

To put the scale of the challenge into perspective, a typical one-hour workout at DGC Studios generates approximately 1,500 Heart Points per person. With an ambitious target of 62,000 points in just five hours, participants will need to dig deep, push their limits and work together to reach the finish line.

At DGC Studios, our mission has always been simple: to bring more living into life. We believe fitness is about much more than exercise. It's about helping people live healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives.

This challenge is about taking that mission beyond the four walls of our studio and giving someone else the opportunity to experience more of what life has to offer, when they need it most.

Because at DGC, we believe life is for living, and everyone deserves that opportunity.

Every effort, every contribution and every heartbeat really does count.
