Two pedestrian crossings proposed for Dunshaughlin
Two new pedestrian crossings are proposed for the Lagore Road in Dunshaughlin as part of traffic calming works to be undertaken by Meath County Council.
The scheme to improve safety for both pedestrians and road users on the R5029 Lagore Road in Dunshaughlin will also see the road carriageway reduced and the footpaths widened
New and upgraded road markings, signage and public lighting will also form part of the works.
One of the pedestrian crossings will be located between Aldi and Euro Mart and the second one will be further out the Lagore Road.
The scheme was on public display for a two week window when members of the public were invited to make submissions. This closed on Friday with no submissions received.
Meanwhile the council is also to undertake long sought traffic calming measures on the N52 in Carlanstown village. Locals have campaigned for years for measures to slow traffic down and provide a safe crossing point in the village.
Two new raised pedestrian crossings will be provided. One is on to the south of Kiernan's Pub and the other is roughly half way between Brogan's Centra and the entrance to Curragh Wood. The existing pedestrian crossing to the of the north of village will be raised.
Footpaths will be upgraded and extended. As part of the scheme, the width of the road carriageway will be reduced and footpaths will be widened. New road markings signage, drainage, and public lighting are all provided for.
Public consultation on this scheme also closed on Friday with no submissions received.
