Ahead by 1-5 to 0-2 at the interval Enfield powered their way to the title in the second-half although they certainly didn’t have it all their own way. A brave, hard-grafting Ard Rí side made them work hard for every score.

Some measure of the early problems the eventual champions had to deal with was witnessed in the opening minute when St Mary’s goalkeeper Taylor Byrne had to make a smart save from Ard Rí’s Tianna Paraschiv.

Eventually St Mary’s got a stranglehold and a superbly-taken goal from their full-forward Jade McNamara helped them go in at the break with their six-point advantage.

Early in the second-half Ard Rí tenaciously fought back but further goals from McNamara and Ellie-May O’Neill ensured St Mary’s ended up with the shield.

Team captain O’Neill led by example. Not only did she score 1-4, she got involved in numerous attacks while McNamara, who finished with 2-3, was another source of real inspiration and scores as her tally indicates.
