Meath sisters release second season of online mini-series featuring Navan comedian Michael Fry

A second season of online mini-series 'Motherhustle' created by two Meath sisters launched last Sunday.

Written, directed and produced by sisters Rebecca and Fiona Ryan, who grew up just outside of Dunboyne, season one of the series amassed more than five million views on Instagram, including behind the scenes content, establishing 'Motherhustle' as a hugely popular home-grown digital comedy series.

Now season two is set to go bigger, with longer episodes and a series of star-studded surprise cameos that will be revealed week by week.

Season two expands the format from eight one-minute episodes, to eight episodes running between two and three minutes, giving the characters, storylines and comedy more room to unfold.

But viewers can expect another major surprise.

Each week, Motherhustle will welcome a well-known cameo, with familiar faces from the worlds of acting, comedy, music and influencers joining the sisters. The identities of the guest stars will be revealed throughout the season, creating a weekly surprise for viewers.

While Motherhustle is first and foremost a comedy, the series also shines a light on some of the very real pressures facing Irish parents today.

The series marks a reunion for the two actors, who previously played sisters in the award-winning TV drama The Tudors. Their on-screen sisterhood has now come full circle, as they reunite to create a very different kind of family drama.

Navan comedian Michael Fry featured as the first special guest of the season appearing in last Sunday's episode.

Michael said: "I loved working with Rebecca and Fiona, it’s so inspiring to see creatives with the drive to get out there and make something themselves. I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of the series, too."

Speaking on collaborating with Michael Fry, Rebecca and Fiona said: "Michael was an absolute dream to work with. He brought our script to life and more! As one of Ireland’s top actors and comedians, he brought so much to the role of Johnny.

We’ve already had DMs asking will he be going on the road trip with us on the show - he’s already proving to be a very popular character with the audience, as we knew he would."
